I found this idea in either Family Fun or Parents. I thought this was a perfect idea to help your kids appreciate nature and encourage them to use those wonderful imaginations and explore the great outdoors. We have made two fairy homes so far. We decided the essential elements for a fairy home is a roof to protect them from the rain and a bed for them to rest in. Althought we have other additional features such as a swimming pool, beach balls, stone path ways, and one of our homes has a dining table able to seat many fairy friends with dishes, seats, and even some food (raisins and bird seed). All the kids have had fun making and checking on these fairy homes. We have even seen some fairies flying around our yard and we are sure they are so pleased to finally have a nice place to rest after a full day of flying. This photo was taken by Lydia. She loves taking pictures and is always looking for something to snap a photo of.

I love your new blog!! I think I'm more into homemaking blogs with all sorts of mommy ideas and goodies than any other!! Great Job and I love the Fairy Home Ideas... Since we have only boys I think we may go with a more masculine name for birds like comandos.... hahaha or war birds... But anywho... great job and great ideas!!
Actually the article that I got this idea from was about a lady and her little boy. Fairies aren't just for girls. We'd have a lot of sad little boys if the tooth fairy only came to little girls. It's all about encouraging them to use their imagination. It took Lydia a while to get those imagination wheels turning. After checking on her house several times to see if any fairies had moved in and being discouraged that she hadn't seen any all of a sudden she got this twinkle in her eye and then it hit her. That's when she pointed to the sky and said "I just saw a fairy! Man in was fast. It must be shy. It just flew away."
